Egypt T-bill auction, 2 September 2014: 364-day at 12.31%, up 17 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 September 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.79% (up 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.99% (up 14 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.31% (up 17 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 17.6bn against EGP 9.5bn on offer, 185% of the amount sought, and EGP 9.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 12.47%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.92%, so the government is paying 61 basis points less than twelve months ago.
