Egypt T-bill auction, 18 March 2014: 364-day at 10.83%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 March 2014, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.24% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.65% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.83% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 18.1bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 213% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.91%, so the government is paying 308 basis points less than twelve months ago.
