Egypt T-bill auction, 3 December 2013: 364-day at 11.36%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 December 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.62% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.96% (down 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.36% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 18.1bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 213% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.90%, so the government is paying 154 basis points less than twelve months ago.
