Egypt T-bill auction, 26 November 2013: 364-day at 11.37%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 November 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.66% (down 14 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.04% (down 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.37% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 19.5bn against EGP 8.5bn on offer, 229% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.54% to 15.41%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.98%, so the government is paying 161 basis points less than twelve months ago.
