Egypt T-bill auction, 5 March 2013: 364-day at 13.97%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 March 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.71% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.34% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.97% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 14.3bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 179% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.90% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.96%, so the government is paying 200 basis points less than twelve months ago.
