Egypt T-bill auction, 26 February 2013: 364-day at 13.96%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 February 2013, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.72% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.34% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.96% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 19.6bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 245% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.90% to 15.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.96%, so the government is paying 201 basis points less than twelve months ago.
