Egypt T-bill auction, 30 October 2012: 364-day at 13.09%, down 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 October 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.41% (up 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.82% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.09% (down 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 11.9bn against EGP 7.0bn on offer, 171% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.8bn was accepted.
At 13.09%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 51 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.78%, so the government is paying 69 basis points less than twelve months ago.
