Egypt T-bill auction, 3 July 2012: 364-day at 15.94%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 July 2012, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 15.53% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.94% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.3bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 189% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.78% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.98%, so the government is paying 296 basis points more than twelve months ago.
