Egypt T-bill auction, 22 November 2011: 364-day at 14.72%, up 65 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 November 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.49% (up 71 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.98% (up 53 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.72% (up 65 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 9.4bn against EGP 7.0bn on offer, 134% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
At 14.72%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 46 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.35%, so the government is paying 437 basis points more than twelve months ago.
