Egypt T-bill auction, 25 October 2011: 364-day at 13.78%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 October 2011, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 12.24% (down 19 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.07% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.78% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 14.2bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 218% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.34% to 13.88%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.26%, so the government is paying 352 basis points more than twelve months ago.
