Egypt T-bill auction, 14 December 2010: 364-day at 10.50%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 December 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.95% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.50% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.2bn against EGP 5.5bn on offer, 276% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.25% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.31%, so the government is paying 81 basis points less than twelve months ago.
