Egypt T-bill auction, 19 October 2010: 364-day at 10.26%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 October 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.82% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.49% (down 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.26% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.5bn against EGP 6.5bn on offer, 238% of the amount sought, and EGP 6.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.24% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.91%, so the government is paying 34 basis points more than twelve months ago.
