Egypt T-bill auction, 10 August 2010: 364-day at 10.38%, down 45 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 August 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.50% (down 51 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.38% (down 45 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 21.3bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 426% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.33%, so the government is paying 5 basis points more than twelve months ago.
