Egypt T-bill auction, 3 November 2009: 364-day at 10.24%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 November 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.95% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 10.24% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.4bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 167% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 13.09%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.21%, so the government is paying 297 basis points less than twelve months ago.
