Egypt T-bill auction, 8 September 2009: 364-day at 9.81%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 September 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.59% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.72% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 9.81% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 16.4bn against EGP 7.5bn on offer, 219% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.81% to 14.80%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.76%, so the government is paying 395 basis points less than twelve months ago.
