Egypt T-bill auction, 21 July 2009: 91-day at 10.21%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 July 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.21% (down 3 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.25% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.7bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 226% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 10.16% to 14.03%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.01%, so the government is paying 20 basis points more than twelve months ago.
