Egypt T-bill auction, 28 April 2009: 91-day at 10.41%, down 5 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 April 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.41% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.

The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 1.5bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 148% of the amount sought, and EGP 784m was accepted.

Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 5.87% to 14.03%.

A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 6.72%, so the government is paying 369 basis points more than twelve months ago.
