Egypt T-bill auction, 10 March 2009: 91-day at 10.70%, up 35 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 March 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.70% (up 35 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.79% (up 19 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 4.8bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 120% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 5.16% to 14.03%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 5.10%, so the government is paying 560 basis points more than twelve months ago.
