Egypt T-bill auction, 5 June 2007: 364-day at 8.16%, down 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 June 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 8.16% (down 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.2bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 519% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.74% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.79%, so the government is paying 63 basis points less than twelve months ago.
