Egypt T-bill auction, 11 April 2006: 91-day at 8.56%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 April 2006, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.56% (down 5 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 8.56% (down 16 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.0bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 200% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 7.86% to 10.19%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 9.89%, so the government is paying 133 basis points less than twelve months ago.
