Egypt T-bill auction, 4 April 2006: 364-day at 8.69%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 April 2006, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 8.71% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.69% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 6.0bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 149% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.08% to 10.79%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.07%, so the government is paying 238 basis points less than twelve months ago.
