Egypt T-bill auction, 1 November 2005: 364-day at 9.30%, down 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 November 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.23% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.27% (down 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.30% (down 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 9.9bn against EGP 4.5bn on offer, 221% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 11.51%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.00%, so the government is paying 270 basis points less than twelve months ago.
