Egypt T-bill auction, 18 October 2005: 364-day at 9.39%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 October 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.33% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.39% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 6.4bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 257% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 12.05%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.08%, so the government is paying 268 basis points less than twelve months ago.
