Egypt T-bill auction, 4 October 2005: 91-day at 9.35%, up 17 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 October 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.35% (up 17 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 9.41% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.2bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 206% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 7.86% to 10.95%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.73%, so the government is paying 138 basis points less than twelve months ago.
