Egypt T-bill auction, 27 September 2005: 364-day at 9.13%, up 22 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 September 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.19% (up 25 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.46% (up 60 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.13% (up 22 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.0bn against EGP 5.3bn on offer, 150% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 12.08%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.87%, so the government is paying 274 basis points less than twelve months ago.
