Egypt T-bill auction, 4 May 2004: 91-day at 10.15%, up 66 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 May 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.15% (up 66 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.69% (up 32 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 6.2bn against EGP 3.4bn on offer, 183% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.61% to 12.54%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 12.29%, so the government is paying 214 basis points less than twelve months ago.
