Egypt T-bill auction, 30 March 2004: 91-day at 7.89%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 March 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.89% (up 8 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 8.70% (up 79 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 4.2bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 106% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.61% to 12.75%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 13.59%, so the government is paying 570 basis points less than twelve months ago.
