Egypt T-bill auction, 16 March 2004: 91-day at 7.73%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 16 March 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.73% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 3.3bn against EGP 1.8bn on offer, 183% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.61% to 13.59%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.03%, so the government is paying 230 basis points less than twelve months ago.
