Egypt T-bill auction, 9 March 2004: 91-day at 7.65%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 March 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.65% (up 15 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 7.91% (up 14 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 4.7bn against EGP 4.1bn on offer, 115% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.61% to 13.59%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 9.30%, so the government is paying 165 basis points less than twelve months ago.
