At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 November 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.13% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 3.6bn against EGP 1.9bn on offer, 190% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 4.60% to 13.59%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 6.63%, so the government is paying 50 basis points more than twelve months ago.
