Zambia T-bill auction, 18 June 2020: 91-day at 17.00%, down 50 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 June 2020, the Bank of Zambia cleared the 91-day bill at 17.00% (down 50 basis points). The rate shown is the cut-off yield rate at the auction.

Demand was strong: bids totalled ZMW 166m against ZMW 75m on offer, 222% of the amount sought, and ZMW 54m was accepted.

Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 16.50% to 17.50%.

A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 16.50%, so the government is paying 50 basis points more than twelve months ago.
