Tanzania T-bill auction, 23 September 2026: 364-day at 6.29%, down 19 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 September 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.39% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.29% (up 36 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.29% (down 19 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 479.5bn against TZS 338.8bn on offer, 142% of the amount sought, and TZS 330.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.20% to 7.12%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.99%, so the government is paying 30 basis points more than twelve months ago.
