Tanzania T-bill auction, 3 June 2026: 364-day at 6.38%, up 80 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 June 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.57% (down 15 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.04% (down 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.38% (up 80 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 366.2bn against TZS 225.0bn on offer, 163% of the amount sought, and TZS 213.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.20% to 8.42%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.72%, so the government is paying 234 basis points less than twelve months ago.
