Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 March 2026: 364-day at 6.40%, up 23 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 March 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.29% (down 56 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.59% (down 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.40% (up 23 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 285.6bn against TZS 185.0bn on offer, 154% of the amount sought, and TZS 176.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.61% to 9.48%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.72%, so the government is paying 533 basis points less than twelve months ago.
