Tanzania T-bill auction, 24 December 2024: 364-day at 12.99%, up 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 December 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.76% (up 183 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.27% (down 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.99% (up 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 128.8bn against TZS 125.3bn on offer, 103% of the amount sought, and TZS 128.8bn was accepted.
At 12.99%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.03%, so the government is paying 197 basis points more than twelve months ago.
