Tanzania T-bill auction, 26 October 2022: 364-day at 5.46%, up 34 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 October 2022, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 4.07% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.46% (up 34 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 81.1bn against TZS 142.3bn on offer, 57% of the amount sought, and TZS 81.1bn was accepted.
At 5.46%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 25 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.07%, so the government is paying 139 basis points more than twelve months ago.
