Tanzania T-bill auction, 15 June 2022: 364-day at 4.81%, up 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 June 2022, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.77% (up 37 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.81% (up 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 53.2bn against TZS 74.4bn on offer, 72% of the amount sought, and TZS 15.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.19% to 5.10%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.24%, so the government is paying 43 basis points less than twelve months ago.
