Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 January 2022: 364-day at 5.10%, up 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 January 2022, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 3.55% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 5.10% (up 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 121.8bn against TZS 75.7bn on offer, 161% of the amount sought, and TZS 75.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.62% to 6.02%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.63%, so the government is paying 47 basis points more than twelve months ago.
