Tanzania T-bill auction, 17 November 2021: 364-day at 4.39%, up 28 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 November 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 0.80% (down 185 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.39% (up 28 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 66.9bn against TZS 74.4bn on offer, 90% of the amount sought, and TZS 58.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.62% to 6.02%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.35%, so the government is paying 4 basis points more than twelve months ago.
