Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 June 2021: 364-day at 5.24%, down 67 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 June 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 3.57% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.24% (down 67 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 144.9bn against TZS 74.0bn on offer, 196% of the amount sought, and TZS 44.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.93% to 6.02%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.70%, so the government is paying 54 basis points more than twelve months ago.
