Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 May 2021: 364-day at 6.00%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 May 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 3.91% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 6.00% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 128.4bn against TZS 74.0bn on offer, 174% of the amount sought, and TZS 71.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.93% to 6.02%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.98%, so the government is paying 103 basis points more than twelve months ago.
