Tanzania T-bill auction, 23 December 2020: 364-day at 4.57%, up 23 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 December 2020, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.50% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 2.61% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 4.57% (up 23 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 22.5bn against TZS 89.2bn on offer, 25% of the amount sought, and TZS 22.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.93% to 5.91%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.88%, so the government is paying 130 basis points less than twelve months ago.
