Tanzania T-bill auction, 6 February 2019: 364-day at 9.23%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 February 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 5.36% (up 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.23% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 169.0bn against TZS 137.0bn on offer, 123% of the amount sought, and TZS 128.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 9.35%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.31%, so the government is paying 192 basis points more than twelve months ago.
