Tanzania T-bill auction, 29 July 2015: 364-day at 14.66%, up 104 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 July 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 8.19% (up 36 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.85% (up 116 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.66% (up 104 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 125.6bn against TZS 160.0bn on offer, 78% of the amount sought, and TZS 71.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.83%, so the government is paying 83 basis points more than twelve months ago.
