Tanzania T-bill auction, 27 August 2014: 364-day at 14.05%, down 67 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 August 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.17% (down 41 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.84% (down 25 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.05% (down 67 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 400.2bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 303% of the amount sought, and TZS 132.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.14%, so the government is paying 109 basis points less than twelve months ago.
