At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 June 2019, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 7.11% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.14% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.13% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
At 7.13%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 49 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.01%, so the government is paying 12 basis points more than twelve months ago.
