At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 September 2017, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 182-day bill at 7.08% (up 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.82% (up 12 basis points). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.70% to 7.58%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.32%, so the government is paying 50 basis points less than twelve months ago.
