At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 July 2017, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 7.15% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.08% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.84% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.83% to 7.58%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.27%, so the government is paying 43 basis points less than twelve months ago.
