South Africa T-bill auction, 8 January 2016: 364-day at 7.54%, down 12 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 January 2016, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 6.84% (down 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.23% (down 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.54% (down 12 basis points). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.79% to 7.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.30%, so the government is paying 124 basis points more than twelve months ago.
