At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 October 2015, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 6.18% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 6.38% (down 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.37% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.79% to 6.61%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.24%, so the government is paying 13 basis points more than twelve months ago.
